The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 12,739
This is an increase of 665 from Wednesday’s announcement.
The number of deaths has also increased by 19 bring the total to 238
The Western Cape has the most infections with 7,235, followed by Gauteng at 2,135, KwaZulu-Natal 1,444, Free State 145, North West 58, Mpumalanga 67, Limpopo 55, Eastern Cape 1,569, Northern Cape 31 and unallocated infections 0.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 403,018 this is an increase of 16,666, which were done in the last 24 hours.
“Regrettably we report a further 19 COVID-19 related deaths- this brings the total national deaths to 238.”
Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families and appreciation to the health workers who treated the patients.
