[LISTEN] Former Stratcom Security Cop Calls on FW De Klerk to Rescind Nobel Peace Prize

May 05, 2020

A former member of the apartheid security forces and a member of Stratcom, an apartheid agency specifically tasked to create and carry out disinformation campaigns, has called on former President FW de Klerk to give back his Nobel Peace Prize.

The call comes at the same time that the FW de Klerk Foundation’s board of advisors chairperson, Dr Theuns Eloff announced his resignation.

Eloff resigned following a statement by the Foundation which labelled the notion that apartheid is a crime against humanity as propaganda meant to agitate.

Speaking to Radio on Monday during the New Hours Show, former Stratcom security cop Paul Erasmus says there is nothing new about de Klerk not deserving the Nobel Peace Prize.

“The man lied to the TRC, he lied to this country, he lied to his own supporters, party and especially to the security forces. All his actions have just been one succession of lies on top of another.”

Erasmus says it will make a huge difference if De Klerk’s Nobel Peace Prize is returned or rescinded after more than two decades of freedom for all in South Africa.

“To have somebody there, he sullied it more than anybody else. It’s almost akin to Adolf Hitler getting the Nobel Prize, if you pick up my gist. More and more just with the passage of time of what de Klerk was involved in or what he knew about is emerging now with the passage of time. He must certainly hand it back and just try and restore some decency to what is a fantastic institution.”

Erasmus has also written a book titled ‘Confessions of a Stratcom Hitman’, in which he reveals the details of his role as a propagandist who created fake news against influential political leaders like Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
