Saudi Arabia’s Hajj and Umrah Ministry has announced that the Haram in Makkah and Medina will soon be opened for worshippers.
Haramain Sharifain shared a post on Facebook on Twitter indicating that both harams will be accessible to worshippers following a committement to relevant procedures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Both harams are currently closed to worshippers.
Some of the regulations worshippers must abide by when both Harams are opened include bringing their own musallah’s, as nobody will be allowed to enter without one, bringing their own Qur’ans and maintaining social distancing while praying.
Other conditions include bathrooms and toilets in both Harams will remain closed, worshippers must wear face masks including using hand sanitisers which will be available at the entrances of both Harams.
While Taraweeh is being read in the Haram in Makkah, it has been reduced to ten rakaats with the Qur’an expected to be completed on the 29th of Ramadan during Tahajjud.
On Monday Chief of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais used “Ozone tech” to sterilize the Haram and the Ka’ba as part of the maintenance work in the Haram.
Saudi Arabia has so far recorded more than 20,000 COVID-19 infections while the death toll has increased to 152.
