COVID-19 Deaths in SA Spike to 65, While Infections Increase to 3,635

The Health Department  has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 3,635

This is an increase of 170 from Tuesday’s announcement.

The number of deaths has also increasing bring the total to 65.

Gauteng has the most infections with 1,224, followed by the Western Cape at 1,079, KwaZulu-Natal 758, Free State 106, North West 24, Mpumalanga 23, Limpopo 27, Eastern Cape 377, Northern Cape 16 and unallocated infections 1.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 133,774 this is an increase of 6,837 from the last report.

“Today, we regrettably report 7 more COVID-19 related deaths. Five of them occurred in the Western Cape and two in KwaZulu-Natal. This increases the total to 65.”

Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families and appreciation to the health workers who treated the patients.
