The Gauteng Health Department says the allocation of COVID-19 cases to respective districts in the province is an ongoing process.
The department has announced that out of the 909 cases in the province, Johannesburg has the most infections with 551 cases, followed Ekhuruleni with 148, Tshwane 100, West Rand 35, Sedibeng 6 and an unallocated amount of 66.
Gauteng has recorded 4 deaths while there have been 399 recoveries.
Spokesperson Kwara Kekana says there are 62 people that are currently hospitalized in various Gauteng Health facilities.
‘We are encouraged by the fact that most cases have not needed hospitalisation. The Department is also happy to report that out of 5 625 contacts (people that came into contact with a COVID-19 positive case), 1,694 have been discharged and have now been cleared.”
Nationally, South Africa has recorded 2,415 Coronavirus infections and 27 deaths.
