Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 2272.

This is an increase of 99 cases from Sunday’s announcement of 2,173.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 in SA has increased to 27.

Mkhize says a 68-year-old man from the Western Cape and a 57-year-old man from Gauteng had died from the Coronavirus.

“I am concerned that the Gauteng man had no underlying conditions.”

He says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 83,663, this is an increase of 3,578 from the last report.

Mkhize says 438,815 people have been screened for COVID-19 across the country.
