COVID-19 Cases in SA Spike to 2,415, Deaths Remain at 27

The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 2,415.

This is an increase of 143 cases from Monday’s announcement of 2,272.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 in SA remains at 27.

Gauteng has the most infections with 909, followed by the Western Cape at 643, KwaZulu-Natal 489, Free State 98, North West 22, Mpumalanga 22, Limpopo 24, Eastern Cape 174, Northern Cape 16 and unallocated infections 18.

The total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 87,022, this is an increase of 3,359 from the last report.

On Monday Epidemiologist and infectious diseases, specialist Professor Salim Abdool Karim speaking during a webinar with Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize and other experts to deal with the technical aspects relating to the country’s COVID-19 response said South Africa cannot escape the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
