The sixth occupant in the horror crash on the N12 West near Lenasia, south of Johannesburg has passed away.
Earlier police said they are investigating the accident in which five members of the same family including a 2-month-old baby were killed in the accident.
It’s understood the car the family were travelling in collided head-on with another vehicle on Saturday night.
Five others were also injured in the crash and taken to hospital.
It’s understood the sixth victim passed away late on Sunday.
The JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar says the accident is under investigation.
“Five people died in an accident yesterday when an Audi collided head on with the Polo on the N12 West at the Golden Highway off-ramp. Two children also died in the accident. It was a one-year-old child as well as a 2-month-old baby.”
Minnaar says the driver of the Audi will now face six counts of culpable homicide.
