The South African National Editors Forum (SANEF) says it will be writing to mineral resources minister Gwede Manstashe asking him to revel the names of the journalists who he allegedly bribed over his extra-marital affair expose.
Sanef says it’s shocked after learning Mantashe’s brazen alleged admission that he paid two Sunday World journalists to “bury” a story about his relationship with a student.
According to the Sunday World, Mantashe paid the journalists R70 000 to “destroy evidence” backing the story.
In a statement, Sanef says that “paid for” or what is known as “brown envelope” journalism is completely counter to journalism ethics.
