Esteemed Islamic scholar Mufti Ismail Menk says because people have actually forgotten where they have come from, they end up perpetrating many sins and crime without realizing it.
Mufti Menk was rendering the Jumu’ah lecture at the Houghton Masjid in Johannesburg on Friday.
The honourable scholars lecture comes in the wake of sporadic looting, violence and xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals and even South Africans.
Many areas were engulfed in the scourge of lawlessness including Jeppestown, Central Johannesburg, Mayfair, Germiston and Tembisa.
There were also reports of looting and violence in Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal.
Mufti Menk says while there are attacks against foreign nationals, people must realize that Allah created everyone from the same soil and dust and they will all be returning back to the same soil.
“…But Allah created us from sand and soil of different colors, from difference parts of the world. Hence our own complexions are different based on where we come from. Some are darker, some are lighter.”
Mufti Menk says the test from Allah is how people treat others from a different race.
“When you have treated them with utmost respect, just like you would treat your own brethren, then you have recognized Allah.”
Mufti Menk says people who think they are better then others including fairer and more affluent, is not only sacrilegious and blasphemous, but also insulting to Allah.
