The Johannesburg Muslim School (JMS) says its open day is to reassure people that all is on track for the completion of the institution at its new location.
The JMS, which was established in the early 1990’s, has been scouting for a new premises that was more inclusive of various amenities, including sports and other facilities.
The relocation of the school was delayed for various reasons and the board of governors prolonged the launch until a suitable site was found.
The open day featured pop-up stall’s, kiddies entertainment and giveaways among other activities.
Spokesperson Ml Ebrahim Bham told Radio Islam the completion of the new school located at corner Foyle and Jarman Street in Crosby is at an advance stage.
“The open day was to at least give people a reassurance that no, not only is the building well on its way, but it is also nearing completion. We’re hoping somewhere along next year we will be able to make a move to the new school.”
Ml Bham appealed to the Muslim community to invest in education emphasizing that Islamic education provides the framework for all other types of education.
