Lenasia South residents have taken to the streets on Friday over land invasions in the area.

Protesters have barricaded roads with rocks and burning tyres.

The residents are also protesting over cable theft, house robberies, property devaluation and non-payments of municipal services by land invaders.

The Lenasia South Civic Association’s Joy Govender says residents would remain resolute in their demands.

“We have come to a point where government doesn’t want to listen to us, so today we will make government listen to us because we are forgotten community in Lenasia South. This land invasion is going on and we can no longer tolerate and today we say enough is enough. We’ve got all the surrounding areas that have come on board today to take to the streets to voice our opinion.”

Motorists have been advised to seek alternate routes.
