Residents Clash over Illegal Land Invasion in Lenasia

Police are investigating a case of assault after residents clashed over illegal land invasion in Lenasia.

It’s understood Extension 9 residents confronted a group of people on Sunday after they tried to occupy land illegally in the area

The Police’s Molefe Mokoena says no arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.

“The two groups of people were fighting in connection of that land. Some wanted to grab that land, some didn’t want people to go erect shacks there. At this stage police are investigating a case of assault, no arrests have been made. Police are continuing investigating the cases.”

Mokoena has urged people not to invade or fight over land saying they should follow proper procedures if they want to occupy vacant land.
