Disgruntled Kwazulu Natal, ANC Youth League members are marching to the party’s headquarters in Durban this morning to rally support for their call to have the national executive committee of the youth league disbanded.

March organiser, Ntuthuko Makhombothi said the Youth League structures have failed the youth and they are demanding that the ANC intervene and disband what they believe are illegitimate national, provincial and region executive structures.

Makhombothi has also stated that the failure of the league to address youth issues was quite evident in the national election results and “this is why we see the party’s like the EFF gaining traction”.

He added that a memorandum will be handed over, outlining their grievances to the provincial leadership today, calling for them to support their call for the disbandment of the youth league.

The march will commence at the Gugu Dlamini Park in the city centre to Pixley kaSeme House headquarters and at least 500 members from the eThekweni and General Mphananza Regions are expected to attend. No mention has been made of who at the headquarters will receive the memorandum.

Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, KZN ANC Spokesperson said they were aware of a march by members but had no further details.
