[LISTEN] Radio Islam Pays Tribute to Marhoom Ebrahim Gangat

Radio Islam International, its staff and listeners are heartbroken to learn of the passing of broadcasting legend and radio personality Ebrahim Gangat from Salaamedia. 

Marhoom Ebrahim Gangat who hails from Roshnee in the Vaal Triangle passed away late on Sunday night after a long battle with cancer. 

Marhoom Ebrahim Gangat who was fondly known as Baboo Ameen, began his radio career at Radio Islam international as a breakfast show presenter. He also had stints at Channel Islam International before moving on to Salaamedia. 

Tributes have been pouring in from Radio Islam International listeners and the community sharing fond memories of  Marhoom Ebrahim Gangat. 

Radio Islam’s Ml Sulaimaan Ravat says Marhoom Ebrahim Gangat will be sorely missed and is a great loss to the broadcasting fraternity. 

“His contribution to Muslim media is legendary and many that came after him were actually following in his footsteps, he had set the benchmark. He was very passionate about the plight of Muslims who were suffering in various parts of the world.”

The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa says its also saddened by the passing of Marhoom Ebrahim Gangat. 

Secretary General Ml Ebrahim Bham told Radio Islam he also personally interacted and learnt from Marhoom Ebrahim Gangat during the initial years when he was at Radio Islam.

“He was indeed one of the pioneers of the Islamic media who left a great legacy.” 

May Allah grant Marhoom Ebrahim Gangat the highest stages of Jannatul Firdous and his family saber-e-Jameel.
