The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has told party supporters to occupy any vacant land across the country exacerbating land grabs in many areas.

The party’s Nazier Paulsen made the comments during Radio Islam’s heated election debate at the Civic Centre in Lenasia yesterday.

Yesterday EFF leader Julius Malema said the land was essential to achieve the party’s plans of building houses for the poor and those who have been on the waiting list for decades.

Responding to a question about land invasions, Paulsen says people should occupy vacant land anywhere in the country.

“When people are homeless and they do not have land, you must occupy land wherever you see vacant land. Where you see a piece of land and it is vacant and you are landless you must take that land. You must not allow anyone to keep you landless, the country of your birth, the country of your forefathers. You must take that land and you must occupy every available piece of land throughout the country.”

Paulsen says poor South Africans are landless because of the African National Congress (ANC) inability.
