[LATEST] Mass Janaazah for New Zealand Mosque Attack Victims on Thursday or Friday

March 18, 2019

Radio Islam International – 2019/03/18

Following the tragic loss of life on Friday in Christchurch – New Zealand, the families of the deceased now seek closure.

Speaking to Radio Islam on Monday from Christchurch, Ml Shakir Ismail said that the bodies of the deceased are yet to be released.

“We hope and we pray that it can be done as soon as possible.”

Ml Ismail said that the earliest case scenario will be a mass Janaazah either on Thursday or Friday.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that as part of the country’s Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC), the government will assist in covering the funeral costs of all victims of Friday’s horrific mosque attack.

Ardern made the announcement in a statement on the New Zealand government’s website.

It’s reported that at least twenty people specialised in preparing bodies for the Islamic burial will be brought in from other cities in New Zealand to assist with the funeral arrangements.

According to a statement by the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (Fianz), “as there were many deceased Muslims, it is imperative that we have enough Muslims who can perform the washing and other janaazah requirements.”
