The Saudi Arabian Embassy in South Africa says there are a number of regulations in place in the Kingdom to make hajj more affordable for South Africans and Muslims across the world.
The embassy was commenting on the debate about whether hajj has become too expensive.
Radio Islam had a panel discussion with travel operators where the issue was unpacked to determine whether the cost of hajj could be reduced following concerns that many people are wavering their hajj accreditation due to affordability.
First Secretary of political and Islamic affairs at the embassy Ali Alshehri says the Kingdom has undertaken a number of expansion projects to make hajj more affordable and easier as well.
“In terms of affordability, now there are a number of regulations that aim to make hajj more affordable. We at the Royal Embassy in Pretoria are also part of these efforts of making Hajj more accessible to every South African.”
Hajj is expected to place in August 2019,
