Zaheera Bham Ismail from the Caring Women’s Forum has scooped the Gold Outstanding Individual Award at the prestigious Gauteng Premier Service awards.

The awards were held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on Thursday.

The aim of the awards is to recognize and reward outstanding service delivery initiatives and efforts, in both public and private sectors in the Gauteng City Region.

Zaheera says while it’s been an exceptional and overwhelming moment, the adjudication process was long and tough.

“It stands for so much more than one person. It stands for so many women and so many Muslim people that are constantly giving up themselves, giving service to their communities and to their countries and I think its stands strongly to show that Muslims are an integral part of the fabric of our community. More importantly for the youth to never underestimate what the value of our parents duas are, because that is the culmination of what happened last night.”

Zaheera says she’s grateful to the various communities including the women she works with for the support in winning the award.
