The Ministry of Umrah in Saudi Arabia has great ambitions in taking Umrah forward.

This is part of the Kingdoms Vision 2030 reform plan, which aims to attract more than 30 million Umrah pilgrims, and provide them with excellent services and an outstanding experience.

However, according to the South African Hajj and Umrah Council (Sahuc) who met with the Ministry of Umrah, there are some concerns about the declining number of people embarking on the mini-pilgrimage from South Africa and globally.

Sahuc’s Ml Muhammad Vaid says they have elucidated that it may be due to the repeat Umrah visa fee of SAR 2,000.

“They are also revising the process of what they would offer in regards to repeat Umrah fees. They’re considering an e-Visa, transit visas.”

Ml Vaid says the Umrah ministry has also signed an agreement with Agoda which is similar to Booking.com
