A number of Israeli and international companies are at risk of inclusion on a UN blacklist for doing business in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
The council has compiled a list of roughly 200 companies, including both Israeli and foreign firms, which were to be included in the UN blacklist for “acting contrary to international law and UN decisions”.
Radio Islam’s Palestine Correspondent Hfz Ebrahim Moosa says despite Israeli and U.S. pressures, the council is set to release an updated list of the blacklisted companies at the 40th UNHRC session in Geneva next month.
“A number of major companies, including Coca Cola has been mentioned in many reports, as part of the formalities for the issuing of this particular report.”
Moosa adds that the UN contacted the companies on the list already.
“By the United Nations, informing them that their names will be published, and some of the Israeli companies who were contacted have actually acknowledged that by being on this particular blacklist, it will expose them to boycotts and legal procedures.”
