South Africa’s hajj quota for the 2019/1440 Hajj season has been set at 3,500 with a possible increase by the Ministry of Hajj under consideration.

The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) is currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for discussions on hajj protocols for the upcoming hajj season.

Sahuc says the first accreditation list will be released on 9 February 2019.

Spokesperson Moaaz Casoo says accreditation and selection of an operator needs to be accepted or deferred by 5 March at 6pm.

“Any accreditation that is not accepted by this date and time will result in a cancellation by Sahuc with a penalty of 30 points.”

Casoo has urged accredited hujjaj to act responsibly by abiding by the process.
