The Islamic Watchdog Movement has been given full access to ‘The Baking Pan’ in Durban following a post on Facebook which alleged that the bakery uses alcohol in its cakes even though they are certified Halaal by the Halaal Foundation of South Africa.
On Tuesday, admin of the Durban Muslims Facebook page, Mohammed Mall posted a phone call he made to ‘The Baking Pan’ posing as a potential customer, with a request that they add alcohol to his cake, shockingly, this was agreed to by the employee on the other end of the line.
However, the owner of ‘The Baking Pan’, Prevan Naidoo has apologized to the entire Durban Muslim community following the horrific mistake by the employee, and has met with the ‘Islamic Watchdogs’ Mall to quell any speculation and doubt moving forward.
Naidoo has granted Mall carte blanche to his store, with the freedom to inspect the establishment at any given time.
Mall told Radio Islam that whilst the Islamic Watchdog Movement exposes those guilty of foul play, the aim of the movement is to correct the wrongs and not to demolish establishments.
