Eskom on Monday shared the rationale for its average annual electricity increase application of 15 percent for three years (45%) made to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa).
This was to stakeholders attending the Cape Town leg of the public hearings undertaken by the regulator that will be held across the country over the next three weeks.
Speaking to Radio Islam, energy expert Ted Blom says the hearings will determine the future for all South Africans.
“The price increase on the table is not as simple as it looks, we are looking at an actual increase of up to 70% over the next three years with RCA and backlog costs added, and thats enough to kill anybody.”
