Sedgars Sport has told Radio Islam they are currently reviewing the Public Protector report which found the sports supplier paid for former Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula’s R680,000 holiday to Dubai in 2016.
EWN reports that Busisiwe Mkhwebane made the announcement at a briefing in Pretoria on Wednesday.
In the report Mkhwebane says the allegation that Mbalula violated Executive Members’ Ethics Code when he undertook a family vacation was substantiated and that the trip was undertaken.
Advocate Mkhwebane says Mbalula claimed he took a loan from Sedgars director Yusuf Dockrat to pay for his holiday and that he has paid back the money.
Dockrat told Radio Islam he is studying the report.
“I have no comment to make as I am reviewing the report.”
Dockrat says they will possibly be issuing a statement soon on the matter.
