The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) says its planned strike at British Airways and Comair over salaries is expected to have a severe impact on the airlines flights.
Workers are demanding a salary increase of 12%, a guaranteed 13th cheque and a travel allowance.
The union plans to begin the strike action next week Thursday.
Numsa’s Phakamile Hlubi-Majola says they are hoping that British Airways and Comair meets with them to discuss the issues and resolve the impasse.
“We are the largest trade union that’s recognised in that structure and if we embark on a strike it will definitely have a negative impact on flights, Kulula and British Airways flights.”
