The head of AfriForum’s private prosecution unit says the justice system has failed a member of a South African family against Ford Motor Company who burnt to death in one of its vehicles.

Reshall Jimmy burnt to death in December 2015 after his Ford Kuga caught alight while on holiday in the Wilderness in the Western Cape.

Since Jimmy’s car caught alight‚ more than 80 other Kugas caught fire on SA’s roads‚ resulting in ford having to recall over 4000 Kugas as part of several safety fixes to the vehicles.

Speaking to Radio Islam, Afriforums Advocate Gerrie Nel says he will be supporting the Jimmy family against Ford.

“I think the justice system failed the Jimmy family. I think that Ford showed tendencies of being a bully in their discussion with the Jimmy family and I think that we just was to help as far as we can.”

Nel says after numerous consultations with the Jimmy Family, they have denied that Reshall committed suicide as Ford claims.

The inquiry has been set down for the 4th of February 2019 before a judge in the high court in Cape Town.
