The trial of double murder accused Rameez Patel is expected to continue in the Polokwane High court on Thursday.
The 30-year-old Polokwane businessman is on trial for the murder of his 28-year-old wife, Fatima, who was found dead at his apartment in Nirvana, Polokwane in April 2015.
Rameez is also accused of murdering his 51-year-old mother Mahjebeen Banu Patel, who was shot and killed in September last year while he was out on bail.
On Monday his brother Razeen testified Rameez told him to hide over a box containing evidence linking him to his wife’s murder.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Razeen also testified that Rameez’s girlfriend at the time contacted him shortly after his arrest asking him to hand over the box to her.
The NPA’s Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi says a second witness Thabo Mafora will take the stand to corroborate Razeen’s testimony.
“Razeen testified he was sent to give the box which was having the clothes, toys, handbag and the gun which was used the day Fatima was killed by Rameez Patel. Thabo was left at McDonalds and Razeen proceeded to the place where he was support to meet the girlfriend of the accused.”
