The daughter of the former security branch cop standing trial for the murder of anti-apartheid activist Ahmed Timol says she reached out to the Timol family because she wanted to see justice for his murder.
Tilana Stander, the daughter of Joao Rodrigues also alerted the Timol family that her father was still alive after they believed that all the security cops linked to his death, were dead – She also helped them track him down.
Rodrigues is fighting to stay out of court with his lawyers wanting a permanent stay of prosecution.
Speaking to Radio Islam, Stander says she felt the pain and loss of the Timol family at the death of Ahmed.
“I saw the pictures of Imtiaz’s grandmother and it breaks my heart as a mother to see how desperate she is to know and to find out what happened to her child.”
Stander also revealed how she was sexually abused by her father at about eight years old and into her teens.
