Rand Water has urged residents to use water sparingly as a heatwave grips Gauteng.
Forecasters say temperatures will rise to 35 degrees in Gauteng and persist into the weekend.
Rand Waters Justice Mohale says the heat wave conditions has already resulted in high demand and is placing strain on the bulk water supply network.
“This is a very critical moment and we thought we should issue this precautionary statement to advise people to use water sparingly so that we don’t deplete the system because it’s difficult to raise the water level if the system has been completely depleted.”
