Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted after the Chairperson of the Lawley Taxi Association was killed at Sheffield Plaza in Lenasia South.
It’s understood three armed suspects approached the man today before fataly shooting him in a hail of bullets.
A bystander was also injured by a stray bullet and taken to hospital for further treatment.
The police’s Lungello Dlamini says incident may be related to a dispute over routes by the taxi industry.
“It is alleged that three suspects attacked him. They shot him, he died at the scene. A woman who was passing by was also caught by stray bullet. She has been taken to hospital. At this stage we don’t know who are the suspects, but we are appealing to members of the public who might have information to contact Crime Stop.”
