One of the organisers of the #ShutDownGauteng movement told Radio Islam that the so called coloured community in Johannesburg will not halt protests until they receive an equitable share of the country’s economy.
This after communities in Westbury, Eldorado Park and Ennerdale participated in protests last week as part of a call for the complete shutdown of the province.
Anthony Williams says coloured people have been socio economically excluded, and the fight is not only about violence and drugs in their communities.
“When you see drugs being abused, this is a manifestation of coloured people being excluded, that’s what at the heart of this thing, and we are coming now after the president and the premiers in all the provinces because we want our equitable share of the economy.”
Williams says they will be protesting at the Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE) tomorrow morning.
