Ml Sulaiman Moola: “Among Ruins, Yet Indonesians Still Grateful after Quake”

September 03, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 03-09-2018

Renowned Islamic scholar Ml Sulaiman Moola says despite the circumstances and plight of Indonesians following an earthquake in that country, they are high in spirits and very appreciative of any support.

Ml Moola is part of the Al-Imdaad Foundation team currently visiting Lombok in Indonesia to distribute much needed aid to victims of the devastating quake which killed more than 387 people.

Most deaths occurred in the north of Lombok, where 334 people died and more than 200,000 people were forced out of damaged homes.

The 6.9-magnitude quake also injured more than 13,000 people, left more than 387,000 people displaced, and damaged thousands of buildings including masaajid.

Ml Moola says the Indonesians receiving aid are totally appreciative.

“This is something that keeps on resonating with me. The joy, happiness, smile, acknowledgment, appreciation and the gratitude. There’s young and old, male and female, and what are they receiving? Nothing more than a packet or a bag of rice with some dried fish. Something very, very simple.”

Ml Moola says the reward for assisting the less fortunate is insurmountable.

“Remember these dua’s, whether we understand it or not, these are the dua’s that will bring us goodness in our lives. The quotation of the great Sahaba (RA) Abu Darda who said: “Value and exploit the dua’s of the afflicted individual. These are afflicted individuals and their duas as surely, readily expected.”

Al-Imdaad has urged South Africans to continue supporting the NGO’s efforts to bring relief to thousands of people across the world.
