MJC to Join Other Religious Leaders in Silent March Against Crime & Violence

August 24, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 24-08-2018

The Muslim Judicial Council (SA) says it fully supports the call by Faith Leaders for a silent march against lawlessness in South Africa.

Western Cape Christian Ministers Association, the MJC and the Western Cape Religious Leaders Forum are some of the organisations that will participate in the peace walk on Wednesday.

Concerned leaders from various faiths held a meeting at the MJC offices last week after concerns about the extent of violence, lawlessness, destruction and loss of life being experienced in communities on a daily basis.

The MJC’s Mishka Daries says the purpose of the Silent Walk is to demonstrate to the public the united message from Leaders of every Faith tradition, and our Silence will be a loud statement of solidarity for the entire City to witness.

“We are concerned about the extent of violence, lawlessness, destruction and loss of life being experienced in our communities on a daily basis and asked the community to support the call for moral regeneration. The peace walk is the first in a series of initiatives aimed at restoring peace, calm and stability to our country.”

The silent peace and prayer walk will start at the historic St George’s Cathedral in Cape Town to the Castle of Good Hope where they will have a prayer session.
