SAHUC Refutes it De-Accredited Chinese Woman for Hajj

August 01, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 01-08-2018

The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) has refuted allegations that it was behind the de-accreditation of a Chinese national who wanted to embark on the journey of hajj.

In a statement on Wednesday, Sahuc says a message regarding a hajji not receiving a visa from the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia was blamed on the hajj body.

Sahuc’s Moaaz Casoo says it accredited the affected hajji and her husband and forwarded their passports to the embassy for processing.

“Sahuc was informed by the Embassy that the visa was not going to be issued. The embassy has requested Sahuc to obtain letters from the hajji, Imam of a masjid, or Ulama group to verify that the applicant is in fact a Muslim which Sahuc had requested from the hajji.”

Casoo says Sahuc has made written representation to the Ministry of Hajj to enquire about the refusal of the hajj visa to the Chinese couple.

“Following no information from the ministry, we presented ourselves and the ministry again and lodged an appeal. We await response from the Ministry of Hajj.”

Casoo says the wrongful suspicion, speculation and defamation of Sahuc is unfortunate and regretted.
