Attacks In Pakistan Will Only Escalate As Elections Loom

July 17, 2018

Mohamed Ameen Dabhelia – 2018/07/17

As Pakistan mourns the deaths of 149 people, including nine children, in the country’s second deadliest militant attack since its independence, Associate Editor at the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies Mohammad Ismail Khan told Radio Islam that attacks will only escalate as the country moves towards its elections set to take place on July 25th.

Khan says that pamphlets were distributed in Mastung warning anyone who supports a certain political candidate and the democratic parliamentary system of the attack.

“Wherever they get an opportunity they said they are going to attack them, this is not the first attack in this election, a few days before the Mastung attack, an attack was carried out in Peshawar.”
