Sahuc to Issue Mobile Sim Cards to SA Hujjaj

As the days of Hajj draws closer, the South African Hajj and Umrah Council (Sahuc) has announced that mobile sim cards for accredited hujjaj have arrived in South Africa.

The mobile sim cards make it easy and possibly cheaper for hujjaj to share their spiritual journey of a lifetime including keeping in contact with fellow hujjaj, operators and even family and friends back in in their respective countries.

In a statement, Sahuc says the sim cards will be distributed to each pilgrim embarking on the journey of hajj by the respective operator the hujjaj is travelling with once hajj visa have been issued.

Sahuc has urged hujjaj to be aware of the following regulations when utilizing the sim cards.

  • Hujjaj can only activate sim cards in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Hujjaj have been advised to take along a copy of their passport and visa when activating their sim cards at the mobile operator’s kiosk. Fingerprints will also be done upon activation of the sim card.

Mobile operators:

STC:

Pay an activation fee of SAR 31.5 which includes SAR 20 airtime, 100MB of data and free calls between SAWA visit customers at a maximum of 60 minutes per day.

Mobily:

No activation fee and includes SAR 3,00 airtime valid for 24 hours, 2GB of data valid for 3 days and bonus credit of up to 300% on every recharge.

Sahuc says hujjaj are not obligated to use the sim cards provided by the organisation and are at liberty to select any mobile operator in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
