The grandson of late former president Nelson Mandela has called for the immediate shutdown of the Israeli embassy in South Africa.

Mandla Mandela has urged the country to make more noise about the ongoing brutality against innocent Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, saying that enough was enough.

Chief Mandela was addressing media at a protest and rally in Durban on Saturday.

Hundreds of people joined the People Against Oppression march in Overport, which was attended by a host of civil society members and interfaith groups.

Last month, the South African ambassador to Israel was recalled Sisa Ngombane in the wake of a brutal attack by the Israeli Defence Force on innocent Palestinian protesters that left 60 people dead.

Mandela says this action cannot be tolerated and he wants to see the Israel’s ambassador in Pretoria, Lior Keinan banished.

“We want to call on the South African government in an act of protest to immediately send him back where he belongs. He has no home in South Africa.”
