A 34-year-old Moroccan man who walked from Morocco to Senegal and then rode his bike from that country travelling more than 23,500km all the way to South Africa says he’s shattered after his bike was stolen in the Eastern Cape after just one month in the country.
Yassine Ghallam travelled for more than 13 months from Morocco through all the African countries on the west coast to reach South Africa at the beginning of May.
His bike was stolen from Jeffery’s Bay Musallah in the Eastern Cape on Friday after Jumu’ah.
Radio Islam travel presenter Muhammad Lambat has urged people to assist Ghallam who is a guest of South Africa.
“It is so sad an unfortunate that Yassine Ghallam has his bike stolen in South Africa. He came through much more dangerous countries in Africa and didn’t expect his bike to be stolen in South Africa. So we appeal to the people to assist as far as they can because this man’s desire is to travel the world in five years and to share the message of Islam and peace. So let us try and open our hearts for him especially during Ramadan.”
