Check the Time Before Breaking Your Fast

May 23, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 23-05-2018

Islamic scholar and Radio Islam presenter Mufti Yusuf Moosagie has urged Muslims to be wary of the time they are breaking their fasts, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan.

This comes after reports of incidences where some masaajid in Lenasia are rendering the athaan earlier than the stipulated time.

Mufti Moosagie says if people break their fast before the time has set in, the fast will have to be repeated.

“The onus is entirely on you. You have a calendar, that you have a clock and that you check that you are breaking according to the time that has been stipulated by the Jamiat calendar. So don’t rely, whether it’s on the radio station or the athaan of the masjid. Check for yourself because you don’t want your fast to be jeopardised in anyway.”
