Two Malaysian nationals have embarked on an epic journey by cycling across the Asian continent to perform the annual hajj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Simien and Mohamed Saufie who are currently in South Africa will travel around 10,000 kilometers before arriving in Makkah in time for hajj.
According the Imam of the Mayfair Jumu’ah Masjid Moulana Yusuf Patel, the cyclists are going to be joined by to others from Port Elizabeth on this journey of a lifetime.
Houghton Masjid’s Yaseen Theba says the cyclists will be travelling through various countries to spread the message of Islam.
Theba says the cyclists want to share the message of love and peace.
“The two brothers from Malaysia are currently on a cycling tour of South Africa staying at masjids from locality to locality, town to town. I asked them what the objective of the ride was, and they simply said they’re riding to meet Muslims for the pleasure of Allah, to create love and to create unity.”
