US Likely To Impose Sanctions On Countries Dealing With Iran Following its Withdrawal From The Accord

May 09, 2018

Mohamed Ameen Dabhelia – 2018/05/09

Constitutional law expert Professor André Thomashausen, told Radio Islam that United States President Donald Trump will likely impose sanctions on any country dealing with Iran in the future.

“They have already threatened and probably within days impose a total ban on major cellphone brands from China – ‘Huawei’ and ‘ZTE’ simply because some of their products are being sold in Iran.”

Thomashausen adds that European companies will face the same problem.

This after, President Trump decided to remove the US from the Iran Nuclear deal, a ‘mystifying move’ according to Thomashausen.

“It took the world by shock, the entire European leadership; no sensible person has questioned the wisdom of the Iran agreement, so why would America opt out of it.”

He says that the Iran Nuclear deal forms part of a multi-lateral agreement, which ultimately means that the other countries will be allowed to continue with the accord.

Thomashausen is of the opinion that people in the military industrial complex are probably hoping for a war with Iran.

“The military is the most powerful element of the American economy, there is an enourmous amount of money involved, each cruise missile costs around 100 million dollars, so if you fire fifty of them, that’s a huge turnover.”

Thomashausen says that Iran has many internal pressures, but they will not be looking to provoke America or anyone else.

“Iran may take a clever and wise route to engage in the nuclear disarmament debate and they could raise the case that the main nuclear power in the Middle East is Israel, and no one has spoken about the nuclear disarmament of Israel.”
