A student from Pakistan’s militancy-hit tribal area leads the voice for the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM).
Manzoor Pashteen has taken up the role as one of the leaders in Pashtun – after he led thousands of people from the tribal areas and northwest Pakistan to the capital, Islamabad, in February.
The rally, ignited by the killing of a young Pashtun shopkeeper in an alleged staged gun battle with police in the port city of Karachi, stirred up long-held grievances among Pashtuns.
However, local Journalist Manzoor Rajah told Radio Islam that not many people approve of Pashteen’s stance and rallies.
“There is a big question about who is funding the PTM, Pashteen, is nothing but a puppet.”
Manzoor adds that people living in the Pashtun area face a range of problems ever since military operations began.
“Their complaints are not wrong, military operations against terrorists also disturb local people of that region, many people lost their homes.”
Pashteen has announced to take their grievances to Karachi on May the 12th.
