Protest Action at Thembelihle in Lenasia

April 11, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 11-04-2018

There is protest action on the K43 in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg.

Residents of the Thembelihle informal settlement have blocked roads with rocks and burning tyres severely affecting traffic.

It’s unclear what the residents are protesting about.

The JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar has urged motorists to use alternate routes.

“There are protests at the moment along K43 and Bangalore Drive and in the vicinity of Thembelihle. Motorists coming from the south of Joburg, Lenasia South Area should rather use alternative routes, try the Lawley road or Golden Highway.”

Minnaar says officers have been sent to the area to monitor the situation.
