As the second day of the annual Ijtima dawns in Rustnburg in the North West Province, thousands of people have already attended the largest Muslim gathering in Southern Africa.
The Ijtima which takes month of planning and preparation is taking place at the Zinniaville sports grounds from the 30th of March to the 2nd of April.
Among one of the largest gatherings, the three-day event hosted by the Tabligh Jamaat was revived in 1926 by Moulana Muhammad Ilyas Khandhlawi.
The objective of the Ijtima is to inspire Muslims to go out in the path of Allah and to sacrifice their time and wealth for the sake of Allah.
One of the more significant days of the Ijtima is the blessed day of Jumu’ah and the lecture which was rendered in Urdu this year by Ml Jameel from Pakistan.
Translating the Urdu lecture, Ml Sulaimaan Ahmed Khatani says Allah has provided us with the gift of life and gave us a perfect example of how to spend our lives.
“The perfect and complete example of that is Muhammd (SAW). He came with a practical way of life and the foundation of this deen-e-Islam, this perfect way of life is based on five things. But if we have to implement it correctly, thanout life in this world will be made, our life in the hereafter will be made.”
Ml Khatani says Muslims are the envy of all creations.
“When the time comes for us to leave this world, we will become the envy of those around us. The world will be crying, the animals will also be lamenting the departure of this person. He on the other hand will be happy, joyous and he will be leaving this world in such a manner that from the earth right up until the heavens the call will be resounding that: ‘open for him, open for him, till eventually he will make sajdah right in front of the Arsh of Allah.”
The final dua of the Ijtima will be rendered on Monday when the gathering comes to an end.
