Ordinary Motorists Are Not Taking The Rules Of The Road Seriously – MEC Ismail Vadi Chats To Radio Islam’s Ejaz Khan

March 21, 2018

Mohamed Ameen Dabhelia – 2018/03/21

With the Easter school holidays beginning on the 28 March, MEC for Roads and Transport in Gauteng Ismail Vadi – told Radio Islam this morning that roads across the country would be much busier during this period as thousands of people embark on holidays.

He says an increase in traffic volumes usually sees an increase in fatalities on the country’s roads, and he has advised motorists to be vigilant while driving.

More than 1700 people died on South African roads over the 2016/2017 December holiday period, another reminder of the dangers of driving on the country’s roads during festive breaks.

Vadi also touched on the N12 freeway, and what the department is doing to try to break the scourge of rock throwing incidents on passing motorists.
