A trio of lawyers from the law firm Knowles Husain Lindsay have been recognised as leading practitioners both in the South African legal environment, and on a global level.
Mohamed Husain and Errol Knowles have been ranked as “Best Lawyers 2018” in the Litigation category. Pierre Ferreira has been similarly ranked in the Insurance Law category.
Husain has, in addition, been personally named as Johannesburg’s “Lawyer of the Year 2018” in the Litigation category.
The trio were nominated by Best Lawyers, an international publication, Chambers and Partners Global 2018 and Global Law Experts 2018 which contacts peers and clients and conducts surveys to determine who is the best of the best.
Speaking to Radio Islam on Thursday, Hoosein who hails from Lichtenburg and completed his schooling in Lenasia says he’s very grateful at winning the awards.
“Alhamdulillah it’s only through the grace of Allah that these things happen, so I’m very grateful for that. But at the end of the day, I don’t rely on that recognition for either tracking new clients or doing work for existing clients. I think that people must judge you on the work that you do for them.”
Hoosein says it’s a combination of dedication, passion, commitment, integrity and honesty that has been his motivation to be a success in his field.
“At the end of the day whilst one acknowledges that Rozi (sustenance) comes from Allah, you are also required to do your bit and the more you apply yourself to your field of endeavour with passion, commitment, integrity, honesty, the more barakah you get in that. There’s no substitute for hard work”
Hoosein has fought and won a number of cases amongst others including the battle for the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) trademark matter and the South African Reserve Bank versus IT biIIionaire Mark Shuttleworth to have exchange controls declared invalid.
