4 ANN7 Employees Detained by Immigration Officials

March 06, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 06-03-2018

A source close to former Gupta owned television channel ANN7 has confirmed to Radio Islam that four employees have been detained after home affairs immigration officials raided their offices on Tuesday.

It’s understood the four Indian nationals were arrested because they were not carrying their passports but just an office ID.

The source who spoke to Radio Islam on the condition of anonymity says immigration officials came to check if all visas of foreign nationals employed by ANN7 were valid or not.

“Management said all is fine and they have our valid visa but foreign nationals have not been allowed to go home. Officials have been here for many hours stationed outside our office. Few of our colleagues (Indian nationals) were even detained because they were not carrying their passports with them, just an office ID.”

The source says its a huge harassment and humiliation to employees because all they wanted to do was to work.

“But as we speak everyone is back at work and three employees are also back. Home Affairs officers are however still here speaking to management. I can confirm we are all carrying valid visas.”

In February, the Home Affairs Department said its immigration officers conducted an inspection at ANN7.
