The African National Congress (ANC) has confirmed that former Minister of Public Enterprises, comrade Lynne Brown has resigned as a Member of Parliament (MP).

Brown joined the National Assembly in 2014 and previously served as a member the Western Cape legislature in various capacities between 1994 and 2014.

She was axed from her portfolio as Public Enterprises Minister in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent Cabinet reshuffle.

Brown has expressed her gratitude in having served the people of South Africa and thanked the ANC for having given her the opportunity to do so.

ANC Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu says they are confident that Brown will continue serving the country and the party in other capacities in future.
