Christians And Muslims Are Facing The Same Problems Under The Israeli Occupation – Moaadh Khateeb

February 28, 2018

Mohamed Ameen Dabhelia – 2018/02/28

Palestinian Activist Moaadh Khateeb told Radio Islam that Christians and Muslims are facing the same problems under the Israeli occupation.

It follows the closure of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem al-Quds, after Israel planned to impose controversial tax and land grab plans targeting churches in the city.

The church closure caused by the Israeli’s, was the longest closure since at least 1990, it also drew criticism from Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan, which is the custodian of holy sites in the Israeli-occupied city.

The Church has since reopened its doors to worshipper’s.

According to Khateeb, people are blatantly ignoring the situation in Jerusalem.

“They are targeting both Muslims and Christians, and I believe the media coverage is important in this respect.”

Khateeb adds that Israel wants to turn Jerusalem in to a Jewish city.

“They are taking advantage of the silence of the world in order to evacuate the city from any non-Jewish presence.”

He says this will threaten ‘peace’ even further.

Khateeb argues that the political and religious system are working towards increasing the Jewish presence in Al-Aqsa mosque.

“This is a very dark picture for the future of Al Aqsa mosque unfortunately.”

Israel lays claim to the whole Jerusalem al-Quds, but the international community views the ancient city’s eastern sector as occupied land.
